Assoc Prof Milena Radnovic: The beauty of geometry in astronomy, Monday 4 November, 6:30pm.
Presented at Sydney Observatory and on-line
In this illustrated talk mathematician Milena Radnovic will explore how astronomy and geometry developed together by ingenious human minds from ancient eras.
We will travel through distant places and times to watch the skies and make discoveries.
Bio:
Associate Professor Milena Radnovic researches the Geometry of Integrable Dynamical Systems in the Faculty of Science at The University of Sydney.
She has a PhD in mathematics from the University of Belgrade and is interested in deepening knowledge about geometrical systems and hence her interests include the mathematics of astronomy.
Associate Professor Radnovic's research experience includes mathematical billiards, theory of algebraic curves, their Jacobians and theta- functions, ergodic theory, integrable systems on lattices and Yang-Baxter equations, singularity theory, Painlevé equations, topology of integrable systems.
Milena is passionate about sharing and deepening knowledge of the mathematical explanations of nature and in 2023 Associate Professor Radnovic presented the Pi Lecture at the University of Sydney for the Sydney Mathematical Research Institute.
